As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations the NDAEB is recognizing past President Paula Parsons. Paula’s exemplary service, contribution to the dental assisting Profession of Canada and commitment to continuous learning make her a DA Difference Maker. We invite you to read the Meet Paul Parsons: An Educator Committed to Her Own Continuous Learning article for more details.
The NDAEB is closely monitoring the impact of Hurricane Fiona on our candidates, their families and our team members and testing centres. All those who are affected by this devastating weather event in Eastern and Atlantic Canada are in our thoughts and prayers. Your safety and health are our primary concern.
Scheduled examinations for September 26th, 27th and 28th, 2022 may have been cancelled or postponed in some locations. We are assessing the situation and will make accommodations for any candidates affected by the cancellations. All candidates scheduled to attend testing centres that have been impacted will be contacted. We will work with candidates over the coming days to plan alternate testing in either the short or longer term as is necessary.
Your patience is requested while we make alternative plans to accommodate all those affected. We ask that you do NOT contact our office by telephone at this time. When you have access to email please inform our exam coordinator at [email protected] about your situation under the subject line “HURRICANE FIONA“.
Thank you, take care and do not worry about your examination if you have been affected by this weather event.
The Domain Description for Dental Assisting is a document that represents the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviours the dental assistant should possess upon entry/re-entry into practice. The Domain reflects the national standards of practice established for dental assisting including all Core Skills agreed upon by NDAEB and stakeholders of the profession in Canada. In 2019/20, a National Occupational Analysis was completed to review the national standards of the dental assisting profession and from the results, a new revised 2023 Domain Description was reviewed and approved by the NDAEB Board of Directors.
The NDAEB will begin to use the revised 2023 Domain Description as the national standard for which our exam is applied against, effective March 2023.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at [email protected] or 613-526-3424.
The NDAEB is pleased to announce the appointment of its 2021 board of directors. For details on the appointments, please read The NDAEB Announces the Appointment of its 2021 Board Members.
The National Dental Assisting Examining Board and the Canadian Dental Assistants Association, in partnership with the Canadian Dental Assisting Regulatory Authorities are pleased to announce the completion of the National Occupational Analysis (NOA) for the profession of Canadian Dental Assisting 2019/2020.
The NOA for dental assisting in Canada is completed approximately every five years and is used primarily to assist in the development and confirmation of the Occupational Standard and to update Domain Descriptions and inform NDAEB exam revisions.
The NOA provides a timely profile of emerging trends in the dental assisting profession and serves an important role in informing education, curriculum development, accreditation of education programs, recruitment, performance improvement, career development, and the examination and credentialing of practitioners. It also represents an important resource for provincial regulators and can inform government regulation and policy development. The full report is available here.
CPE dates and site locations are subject to change and/or be cancelled as a result of Covid-19. Registered candidates effected will be contacted directly by the NDAEB.
NDAEB Preparation exams are available effective September 21, 2020. Preparation exams are available through the NDAEB Candidate Portal to registered candidates only and are reflective of the national examination.
The NDAEB Preparation Exam cost is $75 per exam attempt (or token) and registered candidates may purchase up to a maximum of three (3) attempts. All candidates registered for our October exam will be notified by September 21, 2020 and provided with the information they need to participate.
