The Domain Description for Dental Assisting is a document that represents the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviours the dental assistant should possess upon entry/re-entry into practice. The Domain reflects the national standards of practice established for dental assisting including all Core Skills agreed upon by NDAEB and stakeholders of the profession in Canada. In 2019/20, a National Occupational Analysis was completed to review the national standards of the dental assisting profession and from the results, a new revised 2023 Domain Description was reviewed and approved by the NDAEB Board of Directors.
The NDAEB will begin to use the revised 2023 Domain Description as the national standard for which our exam is applied against, effective March 2023.

Therefore, we strongly recommend that all candidates be fully vaccinated if they want to guarantee their participation in NDAEB examinations. Candidates who are registered at an examination center where vaccination is required must be prepared to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 upon arrival at the testing center.
If you cannot be vaccinated for medical (or other government approved exemptions) please contact the NDAEB for directives. Please be prepared to submit with proof of medical exemption if required.
