The National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) continues to monitor and adapt to the national concerns related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Our first priority is the health and well-being of our candidates, our examiners and our staff. The NDAEB is guided by the Public Health Agency of Canada, and local public health authorities in the communities in which we conduct examinations. The NDAEB is located in Ottawa, Ontario and subject to the laws of Ontario and Canada. Please read the April NDAEB COVID-19 Update for an update relating to the NDAEB, the Written Exam, Clinical Practice Evaluations (CPE) and International Candidates.
The National Dental Assisting Examining Board and the Canadian Dental Assistants Association, in partnership with the Canadian Dental Assisting Regulatory Authorities are pleased to announce the completion of the National Occupational Analysis (NOA) for the profession of Canadian Dental Assisting 2019/2020.
The NOA for dental assisting in Canada is completed approximately every five years and is used primarily to assist in the development and confirmation of the Occupational Standard and to update Domain Descriptions and inform NDAEB exam revisions.
The NOA provides a timely profile of emerging trends in the dental assisting profession and serves an important role in informing education, curriculum development, accreditation of education programs, recruitment, performance improvement, career development, and the examination and credentialing of practitioners. It also represents an important resource for provincial regulators and can inform government regulation and policy development. The full report is available here.
The National Dental Assisting Examining Board (NDAEB) has released the Written Exam Dates for 2021, please check our Written Exam Schedule for the updated schedule.
Should you have any questions regarding these updates, please contact our office by email at [email protected] or by phone at 613-526-3424.
CPE dates and site locations are subject to change and/or be cancelled as a result of Covid-19. Registered candidates effected will be contacted directly by the NDAEB.
NDAEB Preparation exams are available effective September 21, 2020. Preparation exams are available through the NDAEB Candidate Portal to registered candidates only and are reflective of the national examination.
The NDAEB Preparation Exam cost is $75 per exam attempt (or token) and registered candidates may purchase up to a maximum of three (3) attempts. All candidates registered for our October exam will be notified by September 21, 2020 and provided with the information they need to participate.
Due to drastically escalating costs of safety and exam delivery protocols caused by the global Covid-19 pandemic, the NDAEB has made the difficult but necessary decision to increase fees for examination and evaluation services.
In order to minimize the impact on candidates currently enrolled in DA programs whose graduation is in 2020 has been delayed, the fee increases will take place in two stages. The first will take effect October 1, 2020 and the second will be implemented January 1, 2021. Please see the fee schedule.
